The home's roofline is comprised of two stages rather than a single peak - a suggestion from builder Ray Herwig. "It makes the house look more homey," he explains. Owner Mark Maggos says they also extended the eaves to help keep the sun and rain off the walls. Weather, he points out, can do the most damage to a log home.
